Happy New Year! Bonne année!

At Gallinée we kind of think new years resolutions are a bit boring. Drinking less/working out more, it’s always the same.

So we would like to propose you a different outlook: New year life improvements.

Here is our top 5 proposals for the year:

1- LOVE YOUR MICROBIOME.

Stop and think sometimes about all the millions of little bacteria living with you, working with you, defending you and depending on you every minute of every day. A whole little world working hand in hand with you. You guys are a great team!  Time for an auto high 5!

So take care of your microbiome, don’t be too harsh when cleaning and avoid antibiotics if not necessary.

2- EAT MORE PROBIOTICS

It’s so easy! Eat live yogurt, maybe even make your own. Yogurt makers feel a bit 70s but they are so cheap and easy to use. Mine is from Lakeland.

Also explore fermented food: Sauerkraut, Kimchi, Miso, Pickles…

Or even easier, fermented drinks: Ayran and Kefir are really good for you, and available everywhere now. We really like the very nice people of bio-tiful dairy, and their products are incredible.

3- EAT MORE PREBIOTICS

They have so many good effects inside and outside, and are quite fun to cook with.
Find them in Yacon, Jerusalem artichokes, Chicory root and on a lesser concentration in Asparagus, Oignon, Garlic, Leeks, Banana and Wheat.

4- EAT MORE FIBERS

Our western diet is quite poor in fibers, so ramp up the vegetables and fruits intake. Your body, mind and microbiome will thank you. Read this great article about it here
Use your Nutribullet a bit more, choose smoothies over juices, have a soup challenge (5 soups a week, perfect for a packed lunch), try wholewheat bread.

5- CHANGE YOUR MIND ON BACTERIA

The bacteria=yuck attitude is soooo 2015! Break the mould and be ahead of the curve, be a bacteria-lover!
In addition of all your own good bacteria living with you, think about the great hall of fame of bacteria achievements: Wine! Cheese! Bread! Beer!
They are also the dominant life form on the planet, can live in volcanoes or on ice, created the oxygen we breathe, and are amazing little life machines. Admit it, that’s pretty cool.

Have a wonderful biotic year!

The Gallinée team.
