We talk a LOT about probiotics, prebiotics and postbiotics, so we thought we’d explain a bit what we mean by this:

In the strict definition, it means a live micro-organism that brings a benefit to its host. You can also call them “good bacteria”. The ones we use in Gallinée products are from the Lactobacillus family, and have been gently deactivated by heat.

Prebiotics means any kind of ingredient that will specifically feed the good bacteria. Our products have a lot of them, with the aim to feed the good bacteria that already live on your skin, your own bacterial ecosystem. We use prebiotics coming from chicory, beet and yacon. They give this little gingerbread aroma to our Hydrating Face Cream

That’s how we call produces of good bacteria. In Gallinée we use lactic acid, which is going to help create the perfect environment for your skin microbiome. It has a nice softening effect on the skin too.
